Farewell Mass to a “saint”…

Such were  the words said by the many priests who concelebrated the Farewell Mass to Sr. Morelia: a saint, a missionary, a spiritual directress to religious, priests and laity…an “angel.”
The Mass, well attended and so touching, was celebrated on 23rd January, when we gave our final goodbye to somebody who has served us so much in her own way, her simplicity, her capacity to offer her life for others…It was a goodbye to someone who was able to show the world what radical commitment of the laity in the Church is…she was a person of God, a person for all…her time was a time for everything…

When she finished giving communion to the sick of the Parish, Sr. Morelia was hit by a motorcycle and some minutes later died in a hospital in the city of Medellin.
Sr. Morelia Suárez, foundress of the CMS, was a tireless apostle. She lived her life in generous, selfless and committed service wherever her presence was needed.

In 1987, preoccupied by the difficult situation of her hometown, she asked herself strongly about her commitment in the Church. Impelled by the palautian charism, she answered her restlessness by forming a group at the service of the Church. Her idea was not only realized in a small group but now has become an Association extended throughout the world.
She was an exemplary woman, with a great ecclesial commitment; joyful, dynamic, generous, serviceable. In her family she used to preoccupy herself for everybody and was very attentive to serve them; in the parish, in the groups she accompanied, in everything, her sense of responsibility and commitment stood out.
In October of 2011, she was invited by the CMS of Spain and Portugal to participate in the Yearly Encounter. She gave the best of herself there while enjoying the palautian places, cherishing joyfully the doctrine of Francisco Palau and recreating within her heart all she had studied and deepened on him.
Now she has gone ahead of us to the House of the Father, but her memory will last forever because she will be there in Heaven to intercede -  that the CMS may continue to be the strength of the Church.
Thank you Sr. Morelia for your total self living and for the example of your life!
She made this Power Point presentation for the Encounter in Spain: My foundational experience

Our goal is to widen the evangelizing horizon, offering the richness of the Charism to lay people who want to live their faith commitment in “small churches”, being nourished by the Palautian spirituality. With this aim, a private international association of lay faithful has been created with the name of “Carmelite Missionaries Secular”.

With gladness, we welcomed at our General House in Rome the members of the CMS-Korea, who manifest each day, by their joyful witnessing, their growth and maturity in their commitment to the Church as followers of Jesus.
